Winterizing questions

Frequently asked questions

Everything RV owners ask us before booking a winterization.

When should I winterize my RV?

Book your winterization before the first hard freeze, which in Alberta and B.C. usually means late September to early October. Overnight frost is enough to split a water line, so earlier is safer than later.

What does a winterization include?

Our licensed technicians blow out the water lines with compressed air, drain the water heater tank, and run RV antifreeze through the lines and every fixture, including taps, toilet, shower and drains. Antifreeze is included in the service.

Is RV antifreeze an extra charge?

No. Antifreeze is supplied by us and is part of the service, not an extra line on your bill.

How long does a winterization take?

Most winterizations are completed in a few hours. Your service advisor confirms the timing when you book, and we will call you as soon as your RV is ready for pickup.

Do you also winterize the ice maker, washer or dishwasher?

Yes. Ice makers, washers and dishwashers can be winterized on request. Mention it on the booking form and we will add it to the job.

What happens if I do not winterize my RV?

Water left in the lines expands when it freezes. That can split fittings, crack the water heater tank and damage faucets and pumps, and those repairs are far more expensive than a winterization.

Do I need to do anything before dropping off my RV?

Just empty your fresh water tank if you can and clear your personal items from the cabinets you want us to work around. Your service advisor will go over everything with you at drop off.

Can you de-winterize in the spring too?

Yes. Book your de-winterizing when you drop off your RV in the fall and we will have you ready to go as soon as the camping season starts again.
