Foundation RVs: Grand Design's 1st Towable Destination Trailer

The Arrival of Grand Design's 1st Towable Destination Trailer

The Grand Design Foundation RV (starting with the Foundation 42GD destination trailer) is Grand Design’s first entry into the destination trailer category—built for people who don’t want a “weekend camper,” they want a residential-feeling home base for longer stays. The headline feature is straight-up industry-bending: dual rear outdoor decks, including a 60" x 72" rear patio plus an elevated rear observation deck designed for big views and relaxation.

Grand Design Foundation 42GD is for the buyer who tours a lot of RVs and keeps saying, “I want it to feel like a real place to live.” The spec sheet calls out a 48'6" length, 18,000 GVWR, and true destination-style capacities (83 gal fresh / 106 gal gray / 53 gal waste)—plus upgrades that scream “extended stay”: a full GE kitchen suite with a residential dishwasher, standard king bed (76" x 80"), stackable washer/dryer prep, a 62K tankless water heater, heated/enclosed underbelly with heated tanks, and (3) 15K ducted A/C units with an included heat pump.
