Red Deer is gearing up for a milestone event as the 25th annual Woody’s RV World Marathon takes place on Sunday, May 18, 2025. This beloved community race offers a full marathon (42.2 km), half marathon (21.1 km), 10K, and a kids’ race, attracting runners of all ages and abilities. With over 1,100 participants already registered, organizers anticipate a strong turnout for this special anniversary edition.
A Fresh Course for a New Chapter
In honor of its 25th year, the marathon introduces a new course due to construction on the CP Rail pedestrian bridge, a staple of previous routes. The revised path will guide runners through the picturesque Three Mile Bend and the River Bend Golf and Recreation Area, offering a fresh perspective on Red Deer's natural beauty. However, this change means the 2025 race will not serve as a Boston Marathon qualifier.
Community Spirit and Volunteer Dedication
The success of Woody’s Marathon is deeply rooted in community involvement. Organizers emphasize that all registration fees support the non-profit event, aiming to promote health and wellness among participants. The marathon relies on a dedicated team of volunteers who assist with various aspects, from race-day logistics to cheering on runners.
Event Details and Registration
The marathon will commence at École Camille J. Lerouge School, located at 5530 - 42a Ave, Red Deer, AB. The 10K race starts at 8:00 a.m., followed by the full and half marathons at 8:15 a.m., and the kids’ race at 10:30 a.m. Participants can register online until midnight on May 15, with in-person registration available during race package pickup on May 17.
