Edmonton’s Best Eats

Posted by | Local Events

shutterstock_504517612

If you’re a resident of Edmonton in between RV trips (or even an RVer who’s currently visiting Edmonton) you’re going to want to eat at some point. I mean, we can assume that much. Where you eat depends on what quality you want and what kind of experience you wish to have.

If you want the best of the best, however, you’ll be pleased to know that Edmonton possesses some legitimately great eateries. In fact, Alberta’s capital is shaping up to be a foodie’s dream.

Uccellino

A modern Italian trattoria, Uccellino is owned by renowned chef Daniel Costa. His third restaurant, Uccellino serves simple Italian food with ingredients imported from Italy. Simple, in this case, doesn’t mean that the food isn’t quality, but rather that the flavors are clear and robust, transporting you to rustic Southern Italy. Half the restaurant is designated for walk-in dining, so it’s not too difficult to get in and try it.

Rostizado

A rarity this far north, this Mexican eatery is a real treat. Opened by the Tres Carnales Taqueria owners, which serves up tacos street-style, the new place is a traditional, family-style rosticeria. Rositzado takes diners on a journey through Mexico, drawing inspiration from all 32 states, which, if you know Mexican regional cuisine, can be wildly divergent. From classics to modern twists, Rostizado makes a good lunch or dinner.

Duchess Bake Shop

If you want something sweet for dessert, head to the Duchess Bake Shop. Drawing inspiration from the best of French baking, the pastries, macarons, pies, and tarts will make you feel like you’re in Paris. They also serve lunch, which includes sandwiches, quiches, soups, and tartiflette.

Spend New Years Eve in Alberta

Posted by | Local Events

12-29-2015-NYEAlberta

Temperatures are dropping, snow is falling, and Alberta is coming alive for New Years Eve celebrations. Whether you’re interested in enjoying fireworks at midnight, an early celebration for the little ones, or an adults-only party that will keep you dancing well into the New Year, you’ll find exactly what you’re seeking in Alberta.

The following are a few of the top events happening across the province on Dec. 31, but if you can’t make it to these, there’s no doubt you’ll find a special Alberta NYE event somewhere near you.

New Years Eve Outdoor Celebration

The New Years Eve Outdoor Celebration is an extravagant family-friendly event that you won’t want to miss. This outdoor party starts at 8 p.m., and takes place on Olympic Plaza. Take a spin on the ice in your own skates or rent a pair for free until 11:45 p.m. Other festivities include bonfire songs, storytelling, a live DJ, ice sculptures, live ice carving and so much more. The celebration will conclude with a large fireworks display at midnight.

Noon Years Eve 2016

Not all kids can stay up until midnight to cheer for the new year, so why not let them celebrate it at noon instead? The Noon Years Eve 2016 celebration will take place on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, with tons of kid-friendly activities lasting all day long. The countdown will begin at 11:45 p.m., on Thursday, but both days will offer live music, live science demonstrations and more until 5 p.m. This event will take place in Calgary’s Telus Park.

New Years Eve at Churchill Square

Edmonton’s Churchill Square looks a lot like Times Square on New Years Eve. Watch one of Canada’s top fireworks displays while standing around a cozy fire or sipping on a warm cup of hot coco. The event is free and open to the public.

Don’t forget to stop and see us at Woody’s RV World when you’re cruising throughout Alberta in 2016. We’re stocked with all of the RV parts and accessories you need for another year on the road.
