For some RV enthusiasts, the romance of the open road proves the motivating factor for taking that once-in-a-lifetime road trip. They envision new camping adventures, and meeting other travelers. They also experience the beauty of specular, awe-inspiring natural surroundings. Others hear a different call: The desire to rekindle the romance with their long-term partner.
That’s certainly the case for one American couple that shared their story with a reporter from Better RVing Magazine, in February 2010. Newlyweds Joshua and Megan Poultney decided to take an RV honeymoon, as the couple wanted a way to share both their love of camping and NASCAR racing. They bought the RV as a wedding gift to themselves. Over the next three years, the couple took numerous road trips together. Megan Poultney says purchasing the RV brought unexpected blessings to their marriage, as the two learned important lessons in how to work together as a couple.
The Poultneys soon discovered that sharing the vicissitudes of life together had also enriched their marital life. The couple had quickly learned the importance of working together, side-by-side, as they travelled life’s road together.
“We have everything down to a routine,” Megan Poultney told reporter Staci Backauskas. “He handles most of the outside jobs and I take care of the inside,” she says. “Our friends don’t understand how we do it, but three years of traveling like this has helped us to run everything like clockwork.” Continue reading
